A man who led deputies on a chase Wednesday afternoon down Rivers Avenue was captured after he jumped out of a truck and ran.

Charleston County deputies were checking out a complaint of a stolen blue Toyota Tundra and credit card when they saw the truck pulling into the parking lot of the Kangaroo Express at 5225 Rivers Ave., according to Charleston County sheriff’s Capt. Mike Stanley.

The driver, who was alone in the truck, saw the deputies and took off down Rivers Avenue into the Russelldale area. The man jumped out on Rockingham Street and ran off on foot, allowing the Tundra to hit a curb and come to a stop against a chain-link fence. Deputies pursued the man on foot and took him into custody on Twitty Street, Stanley said.

The charges and the man’s identity were not immediately released.
