Man wanted in Ravenel attempted armed robbery surrenders
A wanted man turned himself in to Charleston County sheriff’s detectives and the U.S. Marshals Task Force Monday night.
Derrick Brown, 21, was wanted on two counts of attempted armed robbery and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime following an incident on Chinnis Side Road and Brown Way Road in Ravenel last month, Charleston County sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said.
Two people told deputies that a man approached a vehicle stopped at a stop sign, produced a gun and demanded money on Sept. 17.
When the driver said he didn’t have any money, investigators say Brown struck him in the head with a revolver, took the keys to the vehicle and fled.
Brown is scheduled to appear in bond court today at 2 p.m., Brady said.
