Today is last day to register to vote in South Carolina
COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Today is the last day South Carolina residents can register to vote in November’s election.
A number of voter registration offices in counties across the state will be open for a few hours Saturday morning, including the Charleston County Board of Election and Voter Registration at 4367 Headquarters Rd. in North Charleston, which will be open today from 9 a,m. to noon.
This year, residents also have an online choice.
South Carolina this week began offering registration on its website at www.scvotes.org. Residents will need their driver’s license or state identification card number. That information is checked with the Department of Motor Vehicles database. The state Election Commission will then mail a voter registration card out.
State law requires registration at least 31 days ahead of an election.
This year’s general election is scheduled for Nov. 6.
