Man killed in Summerville shooting identified
Summerville police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Wednesday night.
Police responded to 203 Lilac St. in the Robynwyn Subdivision shortly before midnight and found a man dead, police Capt. Jon Rogers said.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet identified the man as 36-year-old John Elliot Hancock.
Hancock was struck several times, and was pronounced dead in the front yard of the residence, Nisbet said.
Witnesses told police they saw a mid-sized four-door brown or silver sedan leave the area at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle had several people inside, Rogers said.
Anyone with information can call Summerville police at 871-2463 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
