Daniel Island couple accused of growing marijuana
A Daniel Island couple faces drug trafficking charges after Charleston police found more than 100 marijuana plants growing in their home, authorities said.
Robert Brandon Butler, 27, and Danielle Elaine Butler, 25, both of 1137 River Bay Lane, are charged with trafficking marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. They were transported to the Berkeley County Detention Center.
The Charleston Police Department Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant Wednesday at the couple’s home, police spokesman Charles Francis said.
Police confiscated 118 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, 14.5 grams of cultivated marijuana, a shotgun, a rifle, $163 and materials and equipment used to grow marijuana, Francis said.
The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation, Francis said.
