South Carolina State Superintendent of Education hosts statewide virtual meeting to update public
South Carolina Superintendent of Education Mick Zais will host a statewide virtual meeting tonight from 6 until 7:30 to give the public an update on the implementation of its Elementary and Secondary Education Act Flexibility Request.
The public can watch the meeting and submit questions by going here.
The state will record the meeting and post it to its website, and more meetings will be held soon.
The state requested and received flexibility from certain provisions of the federal No Child Left Behind law. The waiver allowed the state to use a new letter grade system to rate schools, and it will be implementing a new teacher evaluation system.
The public will have the opportunity to submit questions during the meeting, and the department will answer them, time permitting.
