WCIV-TV names new chief meteorologist
Longtime chief meteorologist Tom Crawford will join the WCIV-TV’s “Good Morning Charleston” and “Lowcountry Live.”
The station named Dave Williams as its chief meteorologist.
Williams will assume Crawford’s current duties for the 6, 7 and 11 p.m. newscasts. The changes will take place Oct. 22, the station said Friday.
“For the past 21 years I have had the pleasure and honor to work at WCIV-ABC News 4,” Crawford said. “That, by the way, is 21 years of working nights. I have requested to turn the chief meteorologist position over to Dave Williams. This has been granted by management. Dave will make a great chief.”
President and General Manager Suzanne Teagle described Crawford as a “class act” and a “great chief meteorologist.”
“We are pleased that Tom will remain a part of the News 4 family, and we’re excited to have Dave as our new chief. Dave lives and breathes weather. He will be an asset to our station and the community,” she said.
The Associated Press recognized Crawford as South Carolina’s Best Weathercaster in 1998 and 1999. Williams is a member of the National Weather Association, the American Meteorological Society and holds a Seal of Approval from the NWA.
