Charleston County Sheriffs Office, DEA to dispose of prescription drugs
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration are giving the public another chance to dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs Saturday.
People can dispose of their medications from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the sheriff’s office, 3505 Pinehaven Drive in North Charleston.
The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked, Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady said.
Safely disposing of medications helps to quell potential dangers like drug abuse and theft, Brady said.
The sheriff’s office and DEA have held several drop-offs in recent months.
In April the DEA collected 276 tons of prescription drugs nationally, and 3,763 pounds in South Carolina.
