South Carolina Stingrays sign three forwards
The South Carolina Stingrays signed forwards Matt Pistilli, Brett Olson and Kevin Petovello for the 2012-13 ECHL season.
Pistilli, 23, spent the last three with the American Hockey League’s Albany River Rats and Charlotte Checkers (AHL).
The Montreal, Quebec, native appeared in 73 games with the Checkers last season, scoring 12 goals and adding 13 assists. In 164 career AHL appearances, Pistilli has 52 points (25 goals, 27 assists). In 38 games with the ECHL’s Florida Everblades, he recorded 17 goals and 18 assists.
Olson, 24, begins his professional career after playing four seasons Michigan Tech, where he collected 42 goals and 51 assists in 127 games.
Petovello, 26, enters his second professional season after spending his rookie campaign with the Arizona Sun Dogs of the Central Hockey League, recording 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points in 44 games.
“Matt is a high-end skill guy at the ECHL level,” said Stingrays head coach Spencer Carbery. “Brett is a huge signing for us. A lot of teams were after him and Kevin is a solid two-way with a ton of upside.”
