No. 4 Florida State hosts No. 10 Clemson in ninth clash of top 10 teams in ACC football history

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – It’s a busy seller’s market for tickets outside Doak Campbell Stadium this evening as No. 4 Florida State prepares to play host to No. 10 Clemson in what is billed as a battle of high-powered offenses.

Both teams are 3-0.

It’s the ninth meeting of ACC teams ranked in the Associated Press top 10.

The others:

1981. No. 2 Clemson 10, No. 8 North Carolina 8 (the Tigers went on to win the national championship).

1997. No. 3 Florida State 20, No. 5 North Carolina 3.

1999. No. 1 Florida State 41, No. 10 Georgia Tech 35 (featuring Alvin’s Joe Hamilton at quarterback for Georgia Tech).

2000. No. 4 Florida State 54, No. 10 Clemson 7 (Bowden Bowl II).

2004. No. 5 Miami 16, No. 4 Florida State 10 (overtime).

2004. No. 7 Florida State 36, No. 6 Virginia 3.

2005. No. 5 Miami 27, No. 3 Virginia Tech 7.

2007. No. 2 Boston College 14, No. 8 Virginia Tech 10.
