New Charleston AFB wing commander named

Col. James Fontanella will take command of the 315th Airlift Wing in a ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday at Joint Base Charleston.

The 315th Airlift Wing is the Air Force Reserve Command unit at the base, with more than 2,300 assigned personnel.

Fontanella, a Naval Academy graduate, recently worked as the chief of programs and requirements division, office of Air Force Reserve at the Pentagon. He is a 24-year military veteran with more than 3,000 flight hours in various aircraft.
