College of Charleston defeats Winthrop in mens soccer, 4-2
MOUNT PLEASANT ó The College of Charleston menís soccer team scored the first four goals of the game in a 4-2 win over Winthrop at Patriots Point on Wednesday evening.
Charleston (4-4) got a first-half goal from Tony Kattreh before exploding for three second-half goals in under 10 minutes.
Shawn Ferguson volleyed home a pass from Sean de Silva to make it 2-0 in the 55th minute. Two minutes later, Sam Redmond scored, and two minutes after that, de Silva scored to make it 4-0.
Winthrop scored in the 67th and 88th minute.
The Cougars next travel to No. 18 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The Bucs host 15 of their 27 scheduled games, including a New Yearís Eve battle against rival College of Charleston.
Winthropís Jeanne Stroud, a former Bishop England standout, was named the Big South Conference womenís cross country runner of the week.
Stroud, a senior, posted a time of 18 minutes, 18.55 seconds on the 5K course at the Winthrop Invitational. She was the top Big South runner and the South Carolina Intercollegiate Champion at the event, placing fourth in the overall field.
