Charleston County sheriff’s deputies have removed a car found submerged in water near Cherry Point Boat Landing in Rockville.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call about the vehicle around 8:25 a.m., Maj. Jim Brady said.

The silver 2012 Chevy Sonic was unoccupied when it was pulled from the water, he said.

Investigators contacted the vehicle’s owner, Latarsha Doutrich, 27, about 9:30 a.m.

The Johns Island woman told authorities she parked the vehicle on Maybank Highway about midnight Tuesday, and that she didn’t know where it was until the Sheriff’s Office contacted her, Brady said.

This incident is still under investigation.
