Ronnie Lewis Ware is charged with attempted murder.

North Charleston police arrested and charged a man after witnesses say they saw him stab another man for calling him a junkie Saturday morning.

Officers found 52-year-old Rickey Delaney Hines lying on his Purcell Drive apartment’s living room floor, and in pain from a stab wound to the left side of his chest that appeared to cut down to the bone, a North Charleston Police Department incident report states.

Hines told police he went to Suzanne Drive earlier in the morning to borrow a lawn mower. Instead, he said he was attacked by a man named “Slim,” the report states.

Hines ran back home when he realized he was stabbed by the man, who police identified as 48-year-old Ronnie Lewis Ware of Suzanne Drive.

Witnesses told police the two men fought previously and did not get along because Hines told people Ware was a junkie, the report states.

Hines was taken to Medical University hospital for treatment.

Ware was taken to the Charleston County jail and charged with attempted murder.
