Police charged Edwin Parkinson III, 22, with pointing a firearm and John Mansure Jr., 21, with unlawful carrying of a pistol.

Charleston police arrested two men on weapons charges Sunday after a third man said someone threatened him with a pistol.

Police charged John Mansure Jr., 21, with unlawful carrying of a pistol, and Edwin Parkinson III, 22, with pointing a firearm, Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said.

Both men are from Ipswich Court, Francis said.

Police responded to Spring Street and Rose Lane about 12:30 a.m. after a man reported that someone pointed a pistol at him and said, “You have been messing with my buddies,” Francis said.

The threatened man asked the suspect what shooting him would prove, Francis said. The question prompted the suspect to walk away, headed west on Spring Street, and then north on Rutledge Avenue, Francis said.

Officers saw two men at the corner of Spring and Sires streets, one of which matched a description given by the victim, Francis said.

Officers found a pistol in Mansure’s waistband, but determined that Parkinson was the man who pointed the weapon at the victim.
