Houston Mayor Annise Parker, first openly gay leader of major U.S. city, to visit Charleston

Annise Parker, mayor of Houston, will be in Charleston to share her story of political success.

Parker is the first openly gay mayor of a major American city. Her visit on Friday is sponsored by the Alliance for Full Acceptance. She will talk about her public service career, commitment to gay rights and how issues affecting the gay and lesbian community play out in the world of politics.

The presentation at the Charleston Museum is 6:15-7:30 p.m.. Cocktails will be served beginning at 5:45 p.m. All are welcome.
