Wreck near Awendaw closes lane of Highway 17
A single-car wreck near Awendaw this afternoon severely injured the driver and closed down a lane of U.S. Highway 17.
A car went off the highway near Steed Creek Road and overturned near the tree line about 12:20 p.m., according to Charleston County Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady. The driver, the sole occupant, was trapped and sustained life-threatening injuries. A southbound lane was closed for about two hours during the investigation.
