Deadly shooting in parking lot of Columbia fast food restaurant

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting in the parking lot of a Columbia fast food restaurant that left one man dead.

Police Chief Randy Scott says that two groups were arguing in the parking lot of a McDonald’s at 2911 Two Notch Roadjust after 9 p.m. on Saturday when shots were fired.

Scott says three people were shot. One man was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said 20-year-old Steve McCoy of Elgin died from complications of a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting.
