Clemson-Furman pregame report: Sammy Watkins welcomed back
CLEMSON - Clemson receiver Sammy Watkins entered Memorial Stadium to plenty of well wishes and welcome back cheers from Clemson fans during the pregame Tiger walk-on Saturday afternoon.
Watkins, a freshman All-American last season, returns today for No. 11 Clemson (2-0) against Furman (3 p.m., Fox Sports Carolinas) after a two-game suspension stemming from his May arrest on drug charges.
Watkins is hoping to catch up to teammate DeAndre Hopkins who has 19 catches, 224 yards and four touchdowns through two games. Furman is 0-2.
Injuries: Clemson left guard David Beasley (knee) and linebacker Tig Willard (shoulder) are listed as questionable for today’s game but are expected to play. Right tackle Gifford Timothy (knee) is listed as probable.
Weather: The temperature will reach the mid 80s today. Partly cloudy conditions.
