Grandson of WWII Gen. George Patton addresses FRA Convention
Fleet Reserve Association Low Country Branch 269 and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association Unit 269 recently hosted the 67th FRA and the 65th LAFRA Southeast Convention held at the Radisson Hotel in North Charleston.
The keynote speaker was George Patton Waters, the grandson of famous WWII Gen. George S. Patton.
Waters is a Navy veteran who served onboard a Navy destroyer and is a longtime resident of Mount Pleasant.
More than 100 delegates from the 46 branches were in attendance from the Southeast Region.
The delegates elected shipmate James “Robbie” Robbins from Branch 91 in Jacksonville, Fla., as Southeast Region president and shipmate Fredrick A. “Fred” Hill from Branch 290 in Mayport, Fla., as Southeast Region vice president.
Goose Creek Branch 269 took first-place awards in several categories.
Shipmate Roberta “Bobbi” Sutton was awarded Shipmate of Year for her outstanding efforts as chairwoman of the Hospital, Welfare and Rehabilitation Committee.
This association is a congressionally chartered nonprofit organization representing the interests of current and former enlisted members of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
Membership consist of active duty, reserve, vet-eran and retired men and women of the sea ser- vices.
