Billy Jack Hanna was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 12, in Horry County after escaping from his work release program in Mount Pleasant the previous week.

An inmate who escaped from his Mount Pleasant job site last week was arrested at an Horry County strip club Tuesday night.

The Surfside Beach Police Department conducted surveillance of Billy Jack Hanna, 41, before arresting him about 11:30 p.m., S.C. Department of Corrections spokesman Clark Newsom said.

Hanna was on work-release when he walked away from his Pleasant Places Lawncare job site on Long Point Road Sept. 5. Authorities said officers were en route to return Hanna to Coastal Pre-Release Center, a minimum-security facility on Leeds Avenue in North Charleston, when the escape occurred.

Hanna was incarcerated for grand larceny of more than $10,000 in Horry County and was sentenced to five years in prison on Dec. 15, 2010.
