Cross woman killed in wreck in Berkeley County

A Cross woman died today in a wreck in Berkeley County.

Pennie Mae Ravenell, 47, died after her car and a pick-up truck collided at the intersection of County Line Road and Highway 311 at 3:20 p.m.

Ravenell was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to MUSC by helicopter. The driver of the truck, Brent Craig, 40, of Lexington, also taken to a hospital, officials said.

Cpl. Bob Beres with the S.C. Highway Patrol said Craig was headed north on Highway 311 when Ravenell disregarded a stop sign at the intersection and struck the truck.
