Reward for brutal cat killing on Folly Beach raised to $3,000
A reward to find out who brutally killed a cat on Folly Beach has been raised to $3,000, thanks to a $1,000 pledge from Folly council tonight.
Judy the cat was tortured and impaled on a metal spike sometime between May 13-15. Pet Helpers President Carol Linville called the slaying on the most sadistic she has ever seen. The cat’s body was found under a vacant house near Beachside Bed and Breakfast on East Erie, where she greeted guests when she was alive.
Pet Helpers has been offering a $1,000 reward without results. With council’s pledge and more money donated by residents, now the reward for the conviction of the killer is $3,000, Linville said.
Officials have taken DNA evidence from the scene and are awaiting test results for possible leads, Public Safety Chief Dennis Brown told council.
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call Public Safety at 588-2433.
