Trespass notice leads to drug, weapon charges
A Charleston man was arrested on drug and weapon charges after an officer saw him trespassing in an apartment complex that’s been under police watch.
The officer was patrolling Bridgeview Village Apartments off North Romney Street shortly after midnight Saturday morning and spotted a man he knew was on trespass notice, according to police spokesman Charles Francis.
When the officer approached the man, he ran through a breezeway and tried to go into an apartment but was apprehended. The officer found a handgun and 16 grams of marijuana on him, Francis said.
Tomothy W. McCall, 31, of Brody Avenue, was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, unlawful carrying of a handgun and trespassing. He is being held in the Charleston County jail.
