Inmate who walked away from job site still missing
An inmate on work-release who walked away from his job site in Mount Pleasant Wednesday has yet to be spotted a day later, the Department of Corrections reported.
Billy Jack Hanna, 41, was assigned to Coastal Pre-Release Center, a minimum-security facility on Leeds Avenue in North Charleston.
State Corrections Department officials said Hanna was assigned to work at Pleasant Places Lawncare on Long Point Road. Authorities said officers were en route to return Hanna to the facility when he walked away from the job site.
Hanna was incarcerated for grand larceny of more than $10,000 in Horry County and was sentenced to five years in prison on Dec. 15, 2010.
Hanna is 6 feet tall and weighs 197 pounds. Anyone with information about him is asked to call the state Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 877-349-2130 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After hours call 803-896-2258 or the State Law Enforcement Division at 803-737-9000 or contact local law enforcement.
