Inmate escapes from Mount Pleasant job site Wednesday
An inmate on work-release walked away from his job site in Mount Pleasant this afternoon, the Department of Corrections reported.
Billy Jack Hanna, 41, was assigned to Coastal Pre-release Center, a minimum security facility on Leeds Avenue in North Charleston. South Carolina Department of Corrections officials said Hanna was assigned to work at Pleasant Places Lawncare at 449 Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant. Authorities said SCDOC officers were en route to pick him to return him to the corrections facility when he walked away from the job site.
Hanna was incarcerated for grand larceny of more than $10,000 in Horry County and was sentenced to 5 years in prison on Dec. 15, 2010.
