INMAN, S.C. — An Inman woman has been charged with shooting and killing her boyfriend, who was on home detention on a murder charge for a death 11 years ago.

Spartanburg County sheriff’s Lt. Tony Ivey says 39-year-old Sharon Nicole Miller is charged with murder.

Deputies were called to a home late Monday morning on a call that a man had shot himself. Officers found 38-year-old Steven Lee McDowell, who was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Ivey says deputies consider the shooting a domestic homicide. It was not clear if Miller has an attorney.

McDowell was on home detention after being charged with murder in 2010 in a 2001 death. Two other people also are charged in the death of 34-year-old Michael Smith of Spartanburg.
