Hundley seeks to run in special election
GOP state Sen. Walter Hundley, who recently won the special election to fill the remaining months of Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell’s term, has filed to run in the seat’s special Republican primary Sept. 18.
Former Charleston County Councilman Paul Thurmond and Wally Burbage also filed for the seat.
Hundley originally said he did not want to run for a full four-year term. But with candidates being disqualified and facing the possibility of being ruled ineligible, he wanted to ensure the district’s voters “have a Republican choice on the ballot in November,” he said Tuesday.
