A 31-year-old man has been arrested on charges that he fought with a man in a downtown apartment and stole his money and phone, according to the Charleston Police Department.

Gregory Kyle Green of Bull Street faces charges of armed robbery and first-degree assault and battery in connection with the Aug. 17 confrontation. A warrant for his arrest was issued Aug. 22.

He was arrested around 3 p.m. Friday at a Killians Street apartment by police officers and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Investigators said the victim in the case was visiting a friend on Bull Street when Green started arguing with him about money. The quarrel escalated, and Green assaulted the man and then took his cash and iPhone, according to the police.

Magistrate Priscilla Baldwin set Green’s bail at $120,000 on the two charges during a hearing Saturday.

Green has past convictions for cocaine possession, unlawfully carrying a pistol and failure to stop for blue lights.
