Ex-chief speaking out after his firing
ANDERSON — Anderson’s former police chief is speaking out after he was fired from the force’s top job in July.
Former Chief Martin Brown told reporters last week that some of his employees worked to push him out by going behind his back to city administrators.
City officials have said they didn’t like the way Brown was managing the department. In his termination letter, City Manager John Moore states Brown investigated top police department employees after they complained to Moore without checking with the chief first. Moore also states Brown also disobeyed his instructions to avoid confronting those employees.
Brown was put on paid leave in July and fired Aug. 23. He had been Anderson’s police chief since 2006.
Brown said he has filed a grievance and intends to resume his post.
