4 charged in killing of security officer
Four men are facing charges in connection with last weekend’s killing of a security officer at El Toro Bar and Grill, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday.
Gerald Haltiwanger, 24, is charged with murder; Tyrobia Green, 25, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder; Terrell Vaughn, 26, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder; and Jonathan Sterling, 21, is charged with accessory after the fact of murder. Haltiwanger was arrested after 5 p.m. Wednesday, and the other three turned themselves in Thursday at sheriff’s headquarters.
Just before midnight Aug. 25, the suspects assaulted security guard Jimmy Moti, then fired multiple shots at him, according to reports. Moti, 42, died at a hospital. The four were angry at Moti because he had denied them entry to El Toro because they did not have proper ID, Sheriff Leon Lott said.
