COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says the man charged with kidnapping a missing 15-year-old girl pretended to help look for her.

Lott is calling 52-year-old Freddie Grant a “monster” for showing up to help look for Gabrielle Swainson.

Lott says Grant has information that he has not given authorities.

Lott told reporters Thursday he has no new information on the teen’s whereabouts and he wants the public to give them any leads that might be helpful.

Grant did yard work and dated the girl’s mother. He was charged with kidnapping the teen after her blood was found on duct tape near his home. He is being held without bond.
