Heavy rain damages supplies at nonprofit Teachers’ Supply Closet
Heavy rain earlier this week has hurt a local nonprofit that gives free classroom supplies to teachers in high-poverty schools.
The Teachers’ Supply Closet in West Ashley lost some of what it planned to give teachers and was forced to temporarily shut down because of ceiling leaks.
The nonprofit is among a number of tenants in the Ashley Landing Shopping Center off Sam Rittenberg Boulevard that experienced water-related issues, and a representative for the property’s landlord said Thursday that they were addressing those problems.
The Teachers’ Supply Closet still hopes to open to teachers by Sept. 24.
