Some roads closed as flash flood warning issued for Berkeley, Charleston counties
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for south central Berkeley County and central Charleston County until 10:45 p.m.
Heavy rains have been reported from the Naval Weapons Station to McClellanville. The area around the Mount Pleasant airport has already received nearly 6 inches of rain with more expected. Between 1 and 3 inches have fallen between Cottageville and S.C. Highway 61. Another 2 to 3 inches could fall by 11 p.m.
The risk for flash floods will increase with high tide and will be especially high in West Ashley, Mount Pleasant and in the downtown area.
Some roads are being closed by emergency officials, including Market and Church streets and parts of Morrison Drive.
