Michael S. Kogan, professor of religion at Montclair State University in New Jersey and summer resident of Charleston, will conclude a 10 week Bible study with a one-hour class on the Mormon religion.

The lecture, scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Johannes Lutheran Church, 48 Hassell St., is free and open to the public.

Kogan has spent years researching the subject and attending services and classes in preparation for a course on Mormonism he will teach this fall at Montclair State.

He calls Mormonism “the most American of all faiths, filled with unique and exciting insights into the nature of God, humanity and the role of America in the divine plan of salvation.”
