First 787 delivery from Boeing South Carolina set for next week

Boeing South Carolina finally will deliver a 787 Dreamliner to Air India next week, a spokeswoman for the local planemaking plant said earlier tonight.

Candy Eslinger would not say what day the event would happen or how many of the three finished Dreamliners on the North Charleston flight line would be delivered.

“What I can tell you right now is that the Air India delivery team is here in South Carolina for the delivery that’s scheduled for next week,” Eslinger said.

The news comes after months of negotiations between Boeing and the airline over compensation owed for years of Boeing delivery delays and then more months of waiting for the Indian government, which owns Air India, to approve that arrangement.
