Age: 42.

Family: Two sons.

Experience: Seventeen years of teaching grades second through fifth as well as seventh-grade pre-algebra.

Education: B.S. in elementary education, Barry University in Miami; M.S. in mathematics education, Florida State University in Tallahassee; Ed.S. in educational leadership, Nova Southeastern University in Miami.

Why I wanted to go into education: I aspired to become an educator because of my genuine love for children. Helping children to become college-bound and successful citizens is my passion.

Something I’ve always wanted to learn: I have always wanted to learn how to speak Spanish fluently.

Something most people don’t know about me: Most people do not know that my seventh-grade English teacher, John Etta Cauthen, encouraged me to memorize an entire Paul Lawrence Dunbar play, and I presented it to the school and the community.

Something important life has taught me: Life has taught me that everything is not a battle, and to choose ones wisely.

A specific goal for this year: To lead and support faculty, staff, students and parents in the continuation of increasing student achievement in all content areas.
