Haley will have prime time speaking role at Republican National Convention
COLUMBIA — Gov. Nikki Haley will have a prominent role on the first night of the Republican National Convention later this month in Tampa, Fla.
Haley will lead off prime time coverage of the convention’s first night on Aug. 27 with a speech set for 10 p.m., according to her office.
It was announced earlier this month that Haley would have a speaking spot at the event, but the timing of the speech wasn’t confirmed until today.
Haley’s Chief of Staff Tim Pearson said the governor’s speech will focus on her administration’s battles with the federal government during her first 20 months in office, and her relationship with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and wife Ann.
Ann Romney also is expected deliver her own speech on the first night of the convention.
