Man shot, woman wounded in Moncks Corner
A man was killed and a woman wounded Thursday night in a double shooting in Moncks Corner.
Police arrested 60-year-old Johnny Irby and recovered the weapon, authorities said.
At 8:13 p.m., police responded to 110 Haynesville Road after getting numerous calls of shots being fired.
Officers found the man dead on the porch. The woman, who had been shot in the chest, had already been taken to Medical University Hospital. Her injury was serious but not considered to be life-threatening, according to police.
Irby is being held at the Berkeley County jail on charges of murder and attempted murder, police said.
Authorities did not release the names of the victims until family members could be notified.
A press conference has been scheduled for 9:45 a.m. today at the Moncks Corner Police Department to provide more information.
