North Charleston police are looking for thieves who stole five Camaros from a Rivers Avenue dealership over the weekend, including a rare model swiped right off the showroom floor.

The cars were worth an estimated $650,000, police said.

Workers at Crews Chevrolet, 8199 Rivers Ave., arrived at the dealership Monday morning and discovered a red 2013 Camaro ZL1 missing from the showroom. There were only two others like it in South Carolina, according to a police report.

Someone broke into the building after 4 p.m. Sunday and pried open a key drawer in an office. Police noted keys scattered about the floor beside a safe that had been pried open, police said.

Upon further investigation, workers discovered that four other 2012 Camaros were missing, police said.

On Monday, public safety officers at Lexington County Medical Center found the stolen ZL1 parked and unattended. The car was outfitted with a stolen license plate from Summerville but was not damaged, police said.

Still missing are a yellow 2012 Camaro 1SS Coupe, a red 2012 Camaro 1SS Coupe, a white 2012 Camaro 2SS Coupe and a black 2012 Chevy Camaro 1SS Convertible.

Anyone with information on the thefts can call Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
