Police: Man in wheelchair caught sitting on pile of stolen meat
WALTERBORO — Police arrested a man in a wheelchair caught sitting on more than $90 worth of stolen meat.
Officers arrived at a Walterboro Wal-Mart on Bells Highway about 11 p.m. Monday in response to a known shoplifter trespassing at the store, a Walterboro Public Safety report states.
Police spotted 35-year-old Richard Wendell Frazier as he left the store and attempted to get into a small white car.
Officers saw a broken crack stem and a glass stem in the passenger door of the car, according to the report. The items are commonly assembled into crack pipes.
Officers stood Frazier out of his wheelchair to place him under arrest and found he was seated on seven large packs of meat, the report states.
A Wal-Mart manager told police Frazier didn’t pay for the meat.
Frazier was taken to the Colleton County jail and charged with trespassing, shoplifting and possession of narcotic equipment.
