An early morning fire damaged an Awendaw house Tuesday morning.

The blaze happened about 1 a.m. on Beehive Road.

Awendaw firefighters arrived at the residence and saw flames coming from its roof.

Chief Arthur Sattler estimated the blaze damaged about 60 percent of the house, which appeared to be going through some remodeling.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no one was injured, Sattler said.

The fire took about 25 minutes to control. Firefighters remained at the residence for about three hours to investigate the scene.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.
