Clemson men’s basketball lands BYU transfer Damarcus Harrison
CLEMSON-— Clemson men’s basketball added some depth and experience Monday with 6-foot-5 guard Damarcus Harrison, a transfer from Brigham Young University.
When Harrison will play at Clemson is unclear. NCAA rules state a player must typically sit out a year when transferring to another Division I program, but Clemson has announced it plans to file a waiver in an attempt to allow Harrison to play in the 2012-13 season.
Harrison, originally from Greenwood, helped BYU advance to the third round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament, averaging 3.2 points per game as a freshman. Harrison scored a career-high 12 points against Iona in the NCAA Tournament.
“We’re excited to add Damarcus to our program,” coach Brad Brownell said. “He’s an athletic wing with a good skill set, and will certainly provide our team with much needed depth at his position.”
Guards Tanner Smith and Andre Young from last season’s team graduated this year.
Harrison played two seasons at Greenwood High before transferring to Christ School (Arden, N.C.) from 2009-11.
