CHILDREN’S BOOK REVIEW: Boss Baby’ fun for parents and kids
THE BOSS BABY. By Marla Frazee. For ages 4-8. Beach Lane Books. 40 pages. $16.99.
Parents will laugh out loud while reading this tale of a dictatorial infant in a Wall Street-worthy Onesie suit. This little executive schedules around-the-clock meetings and keeps his staff running until they succumb to utter exhaustion.
With his team of two passed out, the boss baby is left with few options to get them moving again. He resorts to two magic words, “Ma-ma” and “Da-da.” Of course, they work wonders and the staff is hard at work again.
The days of midnight diaper changes and feedings will be recalled with a smile as author Marla Frazee deftly creates tongue-in-cheek illustrations that melt into the deadpan text. Children will laugh at the idea of a baby as the boss and will want to read this book again and again. Besides, what child doesn’t like to feel empowered?
