Battling wind, Tiger in three-way tie for lead at midpoint of PGA Championship
KIAWAH ISLAND – With a fierce wind blowing in off the Atlantic, Tiger Woods bounced a drive off the luxury boxes to the left of the Ocean Course’s 18th fairway late this afternoon. His three-putt bogey on 18 dropped him into a four-way tie for the lead at the midpoint of the 94th PGA Championship.
Woods, seeking his 15th major title, shot a 1-under-par 71 to finish at -4, tied with Vijay Singh, and first-round leader Carl Petterson, who made three late bogeys for a 2-over 74.
Singh, the 49-year-old Hall of Famer from Fiji, was the only player under 70 in the second round with a 3-under 69.
Winds gusting to 38 mph blew up Friday’s scores, with Paul Casey recording an 86 and club pro Doug Wage a 93.
