Local ballroom students shine in Virginia
Sharon Joyce and Anita Zucker, students of Fred Astaire Dance Studios of Charleston, competed at the Virginia Dance Sport Championships in Reston, Va.
Joyce danced with her instructors, Maksym Sidak and Andrey Gergel, in the competitive advanced Bronze Pro/Am divisions. In the American Rhythm categories, Joyce placed first and second in her single dances and won the Silver medal in the three dance championships. In the American-style Smooth categories, she placed second in her single dances and was awarded the Silver medal in the three dance championships.
Zucker, dancing with Gergel in the Advanced Bronze Pro/Am divisions, was a finalist in the American Rhythm Championships and a grand finalist in the American-style three-dance championships. Zucker also was awarded the Bronze medal in the American-style Smooth Championships.
