Margaret Middleton Rivers Eastman, author of “Hidden History of Civil War Charleston,” will sign copies of her book 1-3 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Preservation Society of Charleston Book & Gift Shop downtown.

Dr. Linda C. Keaton-Lima, editor of “War is Not Just for Heroes” (USC Press), based on the military career of combat correspondent Red Canup, has been presented the annual Denig Award by the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Correspondents Association.

E. June Roper, author of “The Mind of Christ,” will sign copies of her book in the library of First Baptist Church on James Island at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 12.
