Tax-free weekend is upon us and ends Sunday at midnight. It's time to take advantage of the savings.

The three-day sales tax holiday is held every year beginning at 12:01 a.m. the first Friday in August and ends the following Sunday at midnight.

Here is a portion of what is and is not tax-free.

If you want to see the list in full, visit www.sctax.org.

If you have any questions, call the Department of Revenue at 803-898-5788 or email salestax@sctax.org.

Exempt

Clothing accessories including hats, scarves, hosiery, handbags and shoes; school supplies including pens, pencils, paper, binders, notebooks, books, book bags (only for school, not hiking or camping), lunchboxes, calculators; computers and computer software, printers and printer supplies; washcloths and towels, blankets, bedspreads and linens, sheet and comforter sets, shower curtains, bath rugs and mats, pillows and pillow cases.

Not exempt

Not included in the tax-free holiday are jewelry, cosmetics, eyewear, wallets, watches, furniture, layaway or similar deferred payment items and delivery plans however described; clothing or shoe rentals or sale or lease of an item for use in a trade or business.

If an item is sold 90 days same as cash, it is eligible provided the contract obligating the buyer to pay is signed during the sales tax holiday and delivery of the item is made during the sales tax holiday or the retailer accepts the order during the three-day period for immediate shipment, even if delivery is made after the sales tax holiday.
