SPARTANBURG — A man wanted in the shooting death of a college student in Spartanburg last year has been arrested in the Virgin Islands.
The Spartanburg County sheriff’s office says 21-year-old Sama Chaka Quinland has been arrested in St. Croix.
The Greenville man is charged with murder and armed robbery in the death of 19-year-old DeAndre Fulton-Smith.
Fulton-Smith was a student at Spartanburg Community College and was found dead in his apartment July 25, 2011.
Arrest warrants say Quinland shot Fulton-Smith and took a television and other electronic equipment from him.
Twenty-one-year-old Shaphon Elisse Quinland and 22-year-old Michael Seth Choice were arrested last August and were charged with accessory after the fact of murder.
The U.S. Marshal Service is working out arrangements to return Quinland to Spartanburg.
