Authorities release identity of man whose body was found in submerged vehicle

A Charleston man died this morning when his vehicle went off the road and into some water near Edisto Island.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as Thyler Gregory, 27, of Charleston, and said he died at the scene as a result of the wreck.

A vehicle was spotted in the water off S.C. 174 and White Point Road about 7 a.m., according to Charleston County Sheriff’s Maj. Jim Brady. Rescue workers found a deceased man inside and removed the body from the vehicle.
